No Fault in Martial Arts Instructor’s Death

Sensei Posted in News

Greg Deep, 1962-2005Greg Deep, 43, was killed the morning of August 9th, 2005 on his way to work at Ahn’s Fitness Center when a car struck him while riding his bicycle. Deep, who was not wearing a helmet died of massive head injuries at 11:29 a.m. at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. The driver of the car, Pamela Cummings 43, was driving a Ford Contour. Despite some inconsistencies from witnesses the fatality investigator Darrin Marcus concluded the facts of the case did not warrant criminal prosecution of Pamela Cummings who struck and killed Greg Deep while he was riding his bicycle without a helmet. Marcus said a helmet might not have saved him. The primary reason no charges are being filed is due to the fact that Deep did not stop at the intersection and Cummings had the Green light. Cyclists must follow the rules of the road for automobiles, but are not required to wear helmets if they are aged 16 or older.Deep graduated from high school from Mount De Sales Academy and earned a history degree at Mercer University. He was an avid Bible reader who had a copy of the New Testament on his desk and a CD of the Old Testament in his compact disc player at the office where he served as general manager and head instructor. His small office had about 40 plaques and awards representing many of his accomplishments. The community was hard hit by his death.

Fear Not…

Fear not those things that GOD has sent,
Though troublesome they may seem
For He knows best what must be done,
To lead you to your dreams.
He’ll test your strength to make you strong,
For what’s not used grows weak before long.
He’ll strip you of what pulls you from
The highest goal you seek.
He’ll show you that, where faith is placed
A harvest soon is grown.
And what you’ll learn, is that in time
You reap, what you make.
For all that’s His belongs to you,
To do with as you will.
But when you give it back to Him,
HE does your dreams fulfill.

This 11 min 51 sec video is really cool. It is filmed as a spoof of old Kung Fu movies and the Mortal Combat style games…very funny

If you have the time, it’s worth the watch. This was a promo for this movie

Crooked Martial Artists!

Sensei Posted in News

I’ve been following this story for some time now and I’m glad to see that it is catching some much needed attention. Mishawaka’s Champion Martial Arts of South Bend, Indiana is under investigation for being crooks. That’s right, after receiving multiple complaints from local families for help, the local television station (Local 16) went undercover to uncover this story. It turns out that Mishawaka’s Champion Martial Arts is getting people to sign a multi-year contract to the tune of $4,000.00 that doesn’t allow them to cancel for any reason. Champion verbally tells everyone they can cancel within 30 or 3 days depending on who you speak to, but when the television undercover crew attempts to cancel the day after signing the contract they are told they cannot! That’s right, less then 24 hours later the owner is telling them tough come or not you must pay me!!
Obviously this story is disgusting and goes against the grain of the martial arts philosophy which promotes discipline, integrity, and honesty, hardly what is being demonstrated here. Luckily other clubs on the area passed the test with flying colors, specifically Sponseller’s Taekwondo had no problem offering a refund because they don’t make you sign a contract! OSU to Sponseller’s Taekwondo located in South Bend, Indiana, for maintaining high business standards and the martial arts philosophy.
One last word, people, please remember that self-defense is about awareness. Read the fine print! Oh, and stay away from Mishawaka’s Champion Martial Arts in South Bend, Indiana!

Don’t Use Drugs…

This is by far one of the best anti-drug ads that I have seen.

It makes a strong message is a funny and memorable way, drugs kill brain cells. I could go on but think I’ll let the video do the talking 😉
In case you missed the message…Cannabis, High for a night, Slow for a Month…maybe even longer…

ALERT! PayPal Password-Stealing Trojan Circulating

Sensei Posted in Identity Theft

PayPal password-stealing Trojan mass mailed. Several million copies of a password-stealing Trojan horse were spammed to Internet users late last week, a security company said Monday. UK-based BlackSpider Technologies said that it had already intercepted more than 3.2 million messages with an attached Trojan, and claimed that it took 52 hours for the first anti-virus vendor to issue a signature that detected and deleted the malware. Clagger.h, as Sophos dubbed it (Symantec named it “PWSteal.Tarno.s”), comes with the subject head of “Notification: Your Account Temporally Limited,” and targets PayPal users. The associated e-mail claims that PayPal has detected unusual activity on the recipient’s PayPal account. If the user opens the attached file, Clagger.h silently installs. Not only does Clagger.h set a backdoor so the attacker can later add more malicious code to the PC, but it lurks in the background and nabs usernames and passwords from any window or Web page with text strings. Astute users will be waved off by a misspelling in the spam’s subject heading. In the message, the word “Temporarily” is misspelled as “Temporally.”
