KarateTraining.org is excited to announce the begining of a new service to the Martial Arts Community! In the coming week(s) we will begin to present Interviews, profiles and updates on some of the rising stars in the Martial Arts Community. In addition to performing Interviews we are also making Gallery space available to each rising star so you can see them too! Check out the Up & Coming Martial Artists section in our Gallery. If you know a Martial Artist that you think should be featured drop us a comment or note and tell us who they are and why, we’ll be more then happy to take it from there. If you want to perform an Interview we will be happy to post it as well and give you full credit.
Who knows, perhaps the next Chuck Norris or Jackie Chan could be featured here…at least we’ll be able to say we knew them when! Check out the interviews of each person in the article section, coming soon.

We got this flyer and thought we’d pass it on. This is not an endorsement as we are not familiar with this club or group. We are trying to get more information and will post it here if we do.

Jackie ChanFilm and martial arts superstar Jackie Chan said he guessed two of the five mascots for the 2008 Beijing Olympics before the quintet was unveiled. Chan made a surprise appearance in the finale of a nationally televised gala unveiling the mascots on Friday night in Beijing. He danced on stage with stuffed toys of two of the mascots in each hand. The mascots, selected three months ago by Olympic officials, were a closely guarded secret. But before the show, Chan said he made a bet with a friend on the identities, correctly guessing they would be the panda and the Tibetan antelope. In the end, the mascots also included stylized versions of a carp, a swallow and the Olympic Flame. “I was right about two,” Chan told reporters afterward.

Mbabane,Swaziland:
The Swaziland Kyokushin Karate Association (SKKA) will host a mass grading session at KaBoyce High School hall on Saturday. SKKA’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Edward Manana said the session would begin at 9a.m. He invited all teams to send karatekas to the event. “We urge karatekas to attend the session. Our special focus is on development, so we would be very pleased if the juniors and the female artists can attend in their numbers,” he said. Conducting the session, according to Manana, will be senior instructors (3rd Dan Black Belt), Sensei Enock Mavuso and Sensei James Sibandze. Manana further observed that their development was going on very well as the number of grading karatekas had surged dramatically. “The standard of karate in the country has improved a lot.” The SKKA expressed hope that these sessions would leave the karatekas prepared for next years international assignments.

Positive People Day?!

I’ve just seen the most bizarre commercial that I had to run to the computer and see if it was real or not. While this iUnderDog!s not really related to the Martial Arts it had to be shared! The web site, VictoryOverViolence.org is calling today ‘Positive People Day’. They make the following suggestions for today…

On Positive People Day, October 29th, reach out to others with simple acts of kindness:
[ ] Smile (often)
[ ] Give a hug
[ ] Thank someone
[ ] Pay an unexpected compliment
[ ] Share a laugh or a kind word
[ ] Call your mother or a loved one

Now I think the idea is pretty good, though a little over the top, their commercial is whacked! If you dig a little further you start to get the feeling something isn’t right. Seems the focus of the site is to sell this book though it does say that all the proceeds will benefit the victoryoverviolence.org movement. Well if they say it, it must be true! It is important to note that this group IS NOT with the known legitimate Victory Over Violence group (VoV.com). While I’m not making a judgement call here, one does seem more legitimate then the other, but if you want the book I guess it doesn’t matter! If you want to support a group against violence, then I would urge you to support the real Victory Over Violence group, (VoV.com).

National Martial Arts Day!

That’s right; get your party head gear! Clean and press your best uniform!
Saturday, October 15th is National Martial Arts Day!!
The first Official Proclamation we’ve found is from no less then the Governor of Nevada! There will be many more proclamations from Governors and Mayors as there have been in past years, from New Jersey to California. As Martial Artists it is our job to spread the word near and far, tell everyone you meet and we’ll make this a National Martial Arts day to remember! Seriously, a better idea is to start thinking about next year’s celebration and getting your community leaders involved! National Martial Arts Day isn’t always on the 15th but it is on the 3rd Saturday of October, so mark October 14, 2006 and start planning now!
