Independence Day 2014!

In celebration of Today, the 4th or July, I thought I would share some quotes from the men who sacrificed so much that we could be a free and independent people.  Between hot dogs and backyard games, we should all take a moment to reflect on the words and actions of these men everyday but especially on this day.

The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all others, charity.
— Benjamin Franklin

Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right…and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean of the characters and conduct of their rulers.
— John Adams

The distinctions between Virginians, Pennsylvanians, New Yorkers, and New Englanders are no more. I Am Not A Virginian, But An American!
— Patrick Henry

A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves… and include all men capable of bearing arms.
— Richard Henry Lee

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government
— Thomas Jefferson

The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good
— George Washington

Critical Thinking by John Wayne

This is an interesting interview with John Wayne, from 1975.  It is interesting because what he says in directly applicable to current events.  The Duke speaks to the tactics used by liberals then and still in use today.  Yes, John Wayne is something of a hero for me.  Yes, John Wayne wasn’t his real name; the audio is important for what he says, not necessarily who is saying it.

LANGUAGE WARNING, the audio contains some swears and curses that may not be appropriate for children.

The audio starts out with this quote… “Hell yes, I’m a liberal. I listen to both sides before I make up my mind. Doesn’t that make you a liberal? Not in today’s terms, it doesn’t. These days, you have to be a fucking left-wing radical to be a liberal. Politically, though … I’ve mellowed.”

Another great John Wayne quote:
“I’m quite sure that the concept of a Government-run reservation… seems to be what the socialists are working for now — to have everyone cared for from cradle to grave…. But you can’t whine and bellyache ’cause somebody else got a break and you didn’t, like those Indians are. We’ll all be on a reservation soon if the socialists keep subsidizing groups like them with our tax money.”- John Wayne

The audio is from TonyMacklin.net, the interview took place in 1975.  The complete interview can be heard here.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

st.patrickThis day is not all about leprechauns, shamrocks and green beer.  This is a day to honor and pray to St. Patrick.  He was an influential saint who, 1,500 years ago, brought Christianity to the little country of Ireland.  He was born about 385 in the British Isles, was carried off while still very young during a raid on Roman Britain by the Irish and sold as a slave.  At the end of six years he contrived to escape to Europe, became a monk and was ordained; he then returned to Ireland to preach the Gospel.  During the thirty years that his missionary labors continued he covered the Island with churches and monasteries; in 444 he founded the metropolitan see of Armagh. St. Patrick died in 461.  After fifteen centuries he remains for all Irishmen the great bishop whom they venerate as their father in the Faith.

While St. Patrick most likely did not drive out all the snakes in Ireland (there is no record that there were any) he did convert a nation state, I think driving out the snakes might have been easier!

Because Self-Defense is that Important

Some will take issue with the following graphic, to bad.  Self-Defense is to important an issue to tip-toe around, if you want to be a victim then by all means I will not stand in your way, however you should not require other to be victims against their will!  History speaks for itself, this graphic make it clear that no matter how “pure” your motives may be, if you lobby for gun control then you are aligned with some the most evil leaders in history.  That doesn’t make you evil, just misguided, like so many before you.  Unlike them however you have a choice, you can educate yourself or you can blindly follow evil.  Here is the list:

historical-gun-control-stances

The majority of gun control advocates that I have spoken with as well as their written arguments usually boil down to fear; they are afraid and they want to feel safe.  Fear is not a good motivator for any decision, it usually leads to an emotional response which is devoid of logic or reason.  I always like to ask this question, why?  I continue asking why and eventually you often get an honest answer.  Then I always like to ask, one guns are controlled, what is next?  Believe me and History, there is always a next…(see the above list)…

Rules do not make the world safe.  Rules set a standard for all of us, I am not against rules.  However, rules do nothing to keep us safe; look at all the mass shootings, all of them have occurred in “Gun Free Zones”.  You don’t read about the shootings in other places because typically someone with a gun stopped the shooter.  My point is if you depend on the rules, the law, to keep you safe you will be greatly and perhaps fatally disappointed.  The Police cannot be everywhere, nor do I think we want them everywhere, that is however what the men in the second row of the image want, total control.

In Ancient China and Japan it was against the law for citizens (the working class) to possess or learn to use weapons.  Over the course of centuries the people taught themselves how to defend against the government oppressors, but at great human cost.  Thankfully today because of their efforts we have the Martial Arts, Karate, Kung Fu, etc.  Their techniques were appropriate and while disadvantaged effective given the weapons of the time.  Guns changed all that.  Any Martial Artist or Self-Defense expert will tell you, if you face a gun, comply unless you feel that regardless the outcome will be fatal; even then you have to be within arms length to have a prayer of survival.  That only applies against a single gunman.  What can the masses do against a dozen without massive human sacrifice and still no assurance of victory.   Given the weapons of today our only protection in some situations and always against a government are guns, even then with the advanced weapons available that is questionable.  But better to have a chance then stand as sheep before the slaughter.  Self-Defense is a choice; it is a Right, a Natural Right.  If you want to give up your right, to place your well being in the hands of another, please do so, but do not try to regulate the rights of others, to do so is to side with Evil.

Mas Oyama Trained James Bond…Seriously!

Mas Oyama, founder of Kyokushin “Ultimate Truth” Karate, trained James Bond star Sean Connery.  Not only did Mas Oyama train Sean Connery, Sean Connery was granted the rank of Black Belt (honorary Shodan)…  Anyone familiar with the militaristic training requirements set by Mas Oyama understands what a momentous accomplishment it was to train with Mas Oyama, so much so that even the Honorary title is impressive.

Don’t believe it Connery know and trained with Mas Oyama..well here is some proof:

Mas Oyama – Rest in Peace

One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, Miyagi Chojun (Mas Oyama) – sensei was born.  It is a good time to remember the shoulders we are standing on, and reflect on your karate.

Mas-Oyama-trib

His style lives on stronger (though more fractured) then I think he could have imagined.  His burial site and memorial in Japan is visited often by practitioners.

While I am a Kyokushin practitioner, unlike some I do not revere the man, he was after all just a man.  His contribution and accomplishments however I will always hold in high regard.

The 2nd Ammendment

Think you know what the 2nd amendment is for, think the world safe, think you know what you are talking about?  Invest 7 minutes, watch the video and perhaps you will be able to answer these questions honestly.  Or you can remain blind and deceived by the lord of lies and his minions…

IF only our citizens would elect someone with this much honesty and fortitude.  Alas we would rather elect a celebrity than a leader or statesman.  How blind are ‘we the people’ that we continue to be so short sighted…

PS:  I’ve been looking for a reason to use the world minions!!
