{"id":1860,"date":"2012-02-21T08:15:52","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T12:15:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karatetraining.org\/weblog\/?p=1860"},"modified":"2023-04-11T15:16:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T19:16:51","slug":"political-for-a-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karatetraining.org\/weblog\/political-for-a-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Political for a Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I try to stay neutral topics here though I slip from time to time.\u00a0 Today it seems important to make a few statements.\u00a0 First I&#8217;d like to share a very insightful piece I found on democracy&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em> &#8220;A democracy is always temporary  in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A  democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover  that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who  promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that  every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which  is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world&#8217;s  greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200  years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through  the following sequence: <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em> From bondage to spiritual faith;<br \/>\nFrom spiritual faith to great courage;<br \/>\nFrom courage to liberty;<br \/>\nFrom liberty to abundance;<br \/>\nFrom abundance to selfishness;<br \/>\nFrom selfishness to complacency;<br \/>\nFrom complacency to apathy;<br \/>\nFrom apathy to dependence;<br \/>\nFrom dependence back into bondage&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8211;Alexander Tytler<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Of course contrary to popular belief we do not live in a Democracy, we live in a representative Republic.\u00a0 Splitting hairs yes but an important distinction all the same.\u00a0 Given the above insight I thought it also useful to share the following:<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t know our current President, President Obama, was the first to do so many things.   I guess that&#8217;s what leadership is all about.  He is the:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to preside over a cut to the credit-rating of the United States<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to violate the War Powers Act. .<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico .<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to defy a Federal Judge&#8217;s court order to cease implementing the Health Care Reform Law.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to spend a trillion dollars on &#8216;shovel-ready&#8217; jobs when there was no such thing as &#8216;shovel-ready&#8217; jobs.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to abrogate bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through executive fiat. .<br \/>\n\u00b7  First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the  deportation of illegal immigrants across the U.S., including those with  criminal convictions.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his political appointees.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to terminate America \u2019s ability to put a man in space.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being present.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to arbitrarily declare an existing law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly spoke-out on the reasons for their rate increases.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to tell a major manufacturing company in which state it is allowed to locate a factory.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to file lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (AZ, WI, OH, IN).<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to withdraw an existing coal permit that had been properly issued years ago.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to fire an inspector general of Ameri-corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to appoint 45 czars to replace elected officials in his office. .<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to golf 73 separate times in his first two and a half years in office, 90 to date.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to hide his medical, educational and travel records.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to go on multiple global &#8216;apology tours&#8217;.<br \/>\n\u00b7  First President to go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and  Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends; paid for by the  taxpayer.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to have 22 personal servants (taxpayer funded) for his wife.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000 a year at taxpayer expense.<br \/>\n\u00b7  First President to repeat the Holy Qur\u2019an tells us the early morning  call of the Azan (Islamic call to worship) is the most beautiful sound  on earth.<br \/>\n\u00b7 First President to take a 17 day vacation.<\/p>\n<p>Well as you can guess I am not a supporter of the Democrats or the Obama Administration.\u00a0 Neither do I believe there is a big difference between the Democrats and the Republican Establishment.\u00a0 The fate of this great nation lies with the People, and given the current decay of our society that is not a great reason for hope.\u00a0 Only time will tell, I love to be surprised but doubt I will be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I try to stay neutral topics here though I slip from time to time.\u00a0 Today it seems important to make a few statements.\u00a0 First I&#8217;d like to share a very insightful piece I found on democracy&#8230; &#8220;A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.
