{"id":2790,"date":"2014-07-03T22:34:02","date_gmt":"2014-07-04T02:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karatetraining.org\/weblog\/?p=2790"},"modified":"2023-04-11T15:15:56","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T19:15:56","slug":"self-defense-proof-of-importance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karatetraining.org\/weblog\/self-defense-proof-of-importance\/","title":{"rendered":"Self-Defense: Proof of Importance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week Target&#8217;s interim CEO, John Mulligan, announced &#8220;<em>starting today we will also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target \u2013 even in communities where it is permitted by law.<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>It seems Target&#8217;s new CEO is trying to have his cake and eat it too!\u00a0 He seems to be pandering to the Anti-Second Amendment crowd with language they can interpret as they want; or if they aren&#8217;t that blind then they see this as a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Moms Demand Action and Bloomberg&#8217;s Anti-Gun group very quick Victory Dance and viral comments, they seem to have lost their ability to understand basic English.\u00a0 That or Target&#8217;s Interim CEO doesn&#8217;t understand the words he is using.\u00a0 From the above &#8220;<em>respectfully request<\/em>&#8221; is merely <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a request<\/span> not a real ban&#8230;right?\u00a0 Luckily someone decided to ask Target to clarify, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbian.com\/news\/2014\/jul\/02\/target-asks-customers-not-to-bring-guns-to-its-sto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Columbian<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, said the retailer will not post signs at its stores asking people not to bring guns inside. \u201cIt is not a ban,\u201d she said. \u201cThere is no prohibition.\u201d\u00a0 She said the company decided to make this statement after hearing from people on all sides of this issue.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I have to say this is probably the biggest non-story ever, yet everyone seems so excited.\u00a0 I mean Target might as well have announced they are changing their logo from white and red pattern to a red and white pattern!\u00a0 Fortunately, absolutely nothing has changed\u00a0 and you can still carry your legal self-defense weapon while shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Since this story is a great opening to discuss the effectiveness of guns for self-defense\/preservation.\u00a0 And the Anti-Second Amendment crowd always seems to fall back to the &#8220;<em>that is what we have police for<\/em>&#8221; argument, followed by plugging their ears and repeating, &#8220;<em>nah nah I can&#8217;t hear you<\/em>&#8220;.\u00a0 We have to be honest, the Anti-Second Amendment &#8220;supporters&#8221; are using emotional arguments that do not hold up to logic.\u00a0 Unfortunately not many people use critical thinking and get caught up in the emotions of &#8220;gun violence&#8221;.\u00a0 This is nothing new, manipulators use emotions to motivate\/influence a crowd.\u00a0 But what about the claim that we do not need to protect ourselves, because we have a dedicated Police Force?<\/p>\n<p>If that is so true, why do most Police departments hold or sponsor Self-Defense classes?\u00a0 To really see how often people need their Second Amendment Rights to protect and preserve themselves, check this out&#8230; Here is the Proof that the Right to Bear Arms is a matter of life or death: <a title=\"Guns Save Lives\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps\/ms?msa=0&amp;msid=201909809627841554931.0004a99a6ee3d077dae2d&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;t=h&amp;source=embed&amp;ll=37.579413,-96.416016&amp;spn=27.745558,61.611328&amp;z=4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Great Map of Incidents where Privately Owned Guns Save Lives<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps\/ms?msa=0&amp;msid=201909809627841554931.0004a99a6ee3d077dae2d&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;t=h&amp;source=embed&amp;ll=37.579413,-96.416016&amp;spn=27.745558,61.611328&amp;z=4&amp;output=embed\" width=\"650\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week Target&#8217;s interim CEO, John Mulligan, announced &#8220;starting today we will also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target \u2013 even in communities where it is permitted by law.&#8220;.
