Credit Card Control?
Identity TheftHave the Gun Control people joined forces with the Credit Card companies? You have to wonder. What does that mean?! Well with ID theft on the rise you have to wonder why Credit Card companies won’t enable consumers to protect themselves from fraudulent account use. Consumers are not allowed to set transaction limits or block certain types of transactions using their credit cards, such as restricting card use to purchases only made with U.S.. Additionally consumers are not allowed to set so-called user-defined limits and/or prohibitions on their accounts to help prevent unauthorized use. While there are a handful of credit card companies that offer these services the vast majority do not, which make you wonder why not? About 8 percent of Credit Card companies now offer consumers e-mail or telephone “transaction alerts” to advise them of account activity. That is only 8% offer this service! You would think these simple solutions would go a long way to allowing us to protect ourselves from fraud and ID theft! Perhaps the Credit Card companies think you are reliable enough to use these services accordingly. Like gun control they want you to rely on them for your protection and for a small monthly fee they can make sure you are protected from fraudulent charges and Identity theft! Call your legislator today and tell them you want more control over your own protection from Identity Thieves!

Thanks for the Kudos:)
No I wouldn’t call myself a radical but I know a few people who would! Of course that is largely due to the fact that I have a brain and choose to think and come to my own conclusions.
Personal safety has always been my passion. Luckily for me it is now in vogue again. We all know that most thing revolve around money, but your personal freedom and safety shouldn’t be included in that equation. People need to remember that freedom of choice is a Right not a privilege. Whether we are talking about our rights to personal safety or the right to manage control over our finances. If enough people demand these types of controls (Rights) then typically someone will provide them. If the credit card companies won’t give it to us perhaps we should write our legislature. Either way we can vote with our pens and of course our feet!
Great point! It is refreshing to hear someone who isn’t a radical from the NRA or my local sportsman club defend the personal rights of an individual. We as consumers are charged for the use of the credit cards, the retailers are charged for the use of the services for taking payment but the ability to control our accounts which we are held accountable for is very limited! Have you ever tried to reduce your credit limt? It takes a lot to get the credit card company to agree and once they do it is only a short time later that you receive a notice that they have increased your credit limit back again. It just proves the point that personal protection is a constant effort on the part of us as an individual and although we cannot go through life paranoid we need to be cautious and use our senses and constantly be on alert.
