Emotionally Rooted Illegal Tragedies

Emotional thinking leads to irrational thinking and a disconnect between Cause and Effect. Our society had devolved from one based on Rational thought and Logic actions to one based on Irrational thought and Illogical actions rooted in Emotional thinking. The following story is a symptom of this new society, one not based on Law and Order but one based on feelings of fairness and false compassion. In this story innocent children die with no cry of injustice for they were sacrificed on the alter of emotional thinking; admitting something was wrong or avoidable would cause too many cognitive dissonance so Cause and Effect are ignored.

With an understanding of how far Society has fallen we will examine this tragic and avoidable story of loss; pointing out the Cause and Effect and the irrational denial that these deaths are rooted in emotional thought and actions.

There are so many things wrong and tragic with this story that I’m not sure where to begin. First a listing of the facts:

1. The Gunman, David Mora, was in the country illegally
2. David Mora, was also known as David Fidel Mora Rojas
3. He killed his 3 daughters during a supervised visit (meaning custody had been removed by the state)
4. He owned a allegedly homemade illegal gun (the illegal is redundant given he was here illegally)
5. Mora was under a restraining order that barred him from possessing a firearm (again redundant)
6. Mora had been living at the Sacramento church where the killings occurred
7. Mora was released from an involuntary mental health hold in April 2021 after threatening to harm himself and his estranged girlfriend
8. Mora was out on bail after being arrested five days earlier on charges of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and driving under the influence.
9. Mora overstayed his visa after entering California from his native Mexico on Dec. 17, 2018
10. ICE asked to be notified when he was released from jail after he was arrested in Merced County for assaulting the California Highway Patrol officer.
11. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office stated that under California’s so-called sanctuary state law, it does not notify immigration officials about in-custody people who are being released, and ICE was never notified.
12. The 2017 state law restricts local law enforcement’s cooperation with federal officials except when immigrants are accused of very serious crimes.
13. Grisel Ruiz, supervising attorney for the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, said gun control and domestic violence appear to be the central issues in the killings, while immigration status had no bearing.
14. Mora under terms of a five-year restraining order obtained by Mora’s ex-girlfriend, who was the mother of the girls. The order said he had repeatedly threatened to kill her, scared their girls and said he would kill himself.
15. The Biden Administration priority is to deport people they deem threats to public safety or national security or who recently crossed the border.

There you have it, 15 Events and Facts that should have made this tragedy avoidable. The above raise some serious questions like:

1. Why wasn’t Mora deported if we knew he was here illegally?
2. What crimes did he commit under his alias?
3. How is someone that is here illegally granted supervised visitation, instead of deportation?
4. Does it matter the gun was homemade? Can an illegal, legally own a gun?
5. Again, can an illegal legally own a gun? How do they pass a background check?
6. Why was the Church sheltering an illegal with mental and criminal issues?
7. Why wasn’t Mora release across the border in April 2021?
8. Aren’t Resisting Arrest and Battery on a Police Officer Serious crimes (see 12 above)
9. We knew who and where he was but Sanctuary Laws protected him?
10. This is the first action that might have saved the lives of Mora’s three daughters
11. The Police take an oath to the Constitution not elected activists.
12. What are these Serious Crimes, do we want illegals that commit any non-serious crimes?
13. Lies to protect emotional thinking. Blames Gun Control (which wouldn’t stop an illegal gun) and domestic violence, when if they had followed immigration law Moras would not have been able to murder his three daughters.
14. Doesn’t a restraining order indicate a Serious Crime Risk? Yet no deportation!
15. It seems that threatening children is not deemed a threat to public safety.

To drive these points home even further here are two opposing official comments on this event, a rational response and an irrational response.

Rational Response:
“This unspeakable tragedy highlights the true cost, unintended or not, of sanctuary policies that prevent law enforcement from protecting its citizens,” Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones said in a statement. Jones previously blamed U.S. immigration policy under former Democratic President Barack Obama for the slayings of two Northern California deputies in 2014 by a man who was in the country illegally. The accusation became the subject of an ad by former President Donald Trump in 2018. Jones ran unsuccessfully as a Republican candidate for Congress in 2016 and Scott Jones is again running for Congress.

Irrational Response:
Grisel Ruiz, supervising attorney for the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, said gun control and domestic violence appear to be the central issues in the killings, while immigration status had no bearing. “Regretfully, we’ve seen tragic incidents politicized in the past, resulting in misguided policies targeting immigrants, which in turn make it harder for immigrant survivors to actually get the help that they need,” she said.

There is not much more to say on the topic. Children were murdered at the alter of Emotional Thinking. While we can’t bring them back, we must recognize the error of our ways. If we do and we act by voting and being involved in government, perhaps we can make sure these tragedies are avoided.

For all the talk about Justice, no one seems to concerned with Law and Order.
