KOZHIKODE: A rousing reception was accorded to Renshi M. Dileep Kumar, who returned from Mysore after setting a new world record by breaking 2,500 clay tiles, on Tuesday. Deputy Mayor P.T. Abdul Latheef, corporation councillors and others were present at the reception held at West Hill. Dileep Kumar became a hero for the folks here after his breathtaking performance at the Jagmohan Palace in Mysore on January 8. Twenty karate black belts who stood around Dileep broke the tiles within 15.7 minutes, in an auditorium jam-packed with spectators. Mysore deputy commissioner S. Selva Kumar, former union minister V. Sreenivasa Prasada. Prof. J. Sasidharn Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, Mysore University, T. Raghavan, deputy safety officer, Railways, Usha Moses Thilak, correspondent of Alian Thilak International School and grand master R. Satish Raju of Okinawa School of Karate were present on the occasion. The entire proceedings were recorded in video cassettes, which will be sent to the authorities of the Guinness Book of World Records to assess and to issue a certificate.
