Mas Oyama’s Home
History . KaratePictured below is Mas Oyama around 1955 practicing at his home in Mejiro, Toshima City, Tokyo, Japan. Here Mas Oyama appears to be executing the first move of the Pinan Shodan Kata executing a Chudan Soto Uke (middle outside block) with his left arm and an Jodan Age Uke (upper block/side arm strike sometimes referred as a bump block). In the background you can see an award, his Goju-ryu credentials, training equipment and some interesting dolls. According to those who visited Mas Oyama’s home he had a note on his house saying “Beware of fierce men”. I like that!
While we don’t know the exact address of Mas Oyama’s home, Mas Oyama’s home is not far from the current Kyokushin-kaikan Headquarters.
