Musubi Dachi StanceKarate . Technique . Training notes
Formally known as Musubi Dachi, this stance is analogous to a soldier standing at attention. This is the stance you assume before bowing and at beginning/end most Katas or formal routines. For my students I refer to is as the Start Position, once in this position, you are signalling you have completed and are ready to start the next activity/command. This is also the position you should assume when bowing.
Start Position Stance:
Heals of feet together, feet at 45 degrees off center.
At attention left hand over right several inches away from the groin
The left hand pushes down while the right hand pushes up creating (explosive) tension
