Bruce Willis – Honorary Black Belt Recipient
Announcements & Press Releases . Competition . Entertainment . ProfilesAs a huge Bruce Willis Fan I couldn’t resist making up this sign. He may not be a Martial Artist but I think the Martial Arts community should get together and make him an Honorary Black Belt. He is way cooler the Chuck Norris, he can take a beating better then Chuck Norris, he doesnβt stay down and keeps on swinging, he has a better sense of humor then Chuck Norris, he is a better actor then Chuck Norris, pretty sure Bruce Willis has taken out more Bad Guys then Chuck Norris, and well heβs Bruce Willis!!
Bruce we Salute you and KarateTraining.org wants to present you with the First Honorary Black Belt for your contributions to making being a Guy cool and meaningful. Bruce, please contact us so we can arrange the presentation of your Honorary Black Belt.

John, I agree with your critic of the Martial Arts community and believe I have written similar sentiments in the archives of this blog. Judo does have high integrity when it comes to advancement, there are a few karate/martial arts styles that follow that same principle (Kyokushin for one) but the pervasive culture is cash for color!!
The idea of an Honorary Black Belt however is no different then a University giving an Honorary degree to someone. It is a way of showing respect for their accomplishments and their contributions to a field of interest. We do not mean to suggest that Bruce IS a black belt with the giving, just that he has increased interest in the fighting arts through his movies and well like we said we couldn’t think of a cooler guy to receive our first Honorary Black Belt!! Hopefully you can see the serious and light-hearted nature of the award we are making. Personally I’d love nothing more then to have Bruce as a student, but I might charge him slightly more the $700.00 for a certificate!! π
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I hope to hear back from you soon.
John, I want you to know that as a student of the creator of this blog that we are not given any of our belts as a payoff – we have to work hard, prove our ability, and strive for perfection in all of our studies which results in EARNING each and every belt. I understand your comments/concerns and agree with your statement but people can be honored for their accomplishments – I would rather honor someone who doesn’t ask for or expect it, rather than be a follower of someone who seems to have more endeavors in politics and selling exercise equipment that is not needed to provide a proper work out. (don’t get me wrong I love Chuck Norris but he has become a sell out to the martial arts community in my personal opinion). Thanks for commenting on this site and creating thought provoking conversation. I appreciate hearing other peoples opinions and if we all agreed on everything it would truly be a boring world!
This is what gives martial arts a bad name. Honorary black belt? Why should an actor get a black belt when I had to earn it with my sweat and blood. Karate , TKD and etc like to give out belts if you train for 3 yrs or if you just give them money for the testing. In Judo there is no such thing as a Honorary black belt you have to earn it. Only way to get a black belt is to win 3 tournaments beating other blackbelts, unlike other martial arts where you pay them $700 for a certificate or just be a movie star.
Hudson Hawk is one of my favorite unknown films, only Bruce could have pulled of that role. Without him the story would have fallen apart, it truly demonstrates his ability to interact with the audience and have fun with them while entertaining.
Good Call.
Nice to hear from you again Chuck!
I agree Bruce Willis rules the big screen – He also sings “Swinging on a Star” like no other actor can (Hudson Hawk a must see movie with my favorite actress Andie Macdowell).
The response to this has been great so far but I wish more people would digg or stumble the article that would help us out a bunch! We have mailed Bruce Willis’ Agent/Publicist and hope to be able to arrange a date for the presentation of the Honorary Black Belt. The more attention this article gets the more apt his people are to set a date so your support is critical.
Thank you to everyone for their emails but we prefer comments!! Show us some Love!!
Train hard, train often!
