KarateTraining.org Forum goes Live…Again!

Our first attempt at offering a discussion forum for you our trusty users met with mixed results. On the one hand you made some great posts and the forum was really starting to take off and become popular. There in was the problem, we came under attack from every spammer in the world. It became a full time job to thwart their efforts and roughly a year ago we shut down the discussion forum. πŸ™
Well fear not! We’re back for another try at this (as we promised we would be). So with any luck the new Forum software we are using will be better at stopping the @#$%@ spammers and we will be able to keep the discussion forum going for you.
Please take a moment, check out the forum and let us know what you think!

Life Happens…Keep Moving…

Well it has been a while and for that I am sorry. Hopefully this will break the cycle and I’ll be posting regularly again…we’ll see. I haven’t written because, well life happens. This year has been going full speed and I hit critical mass around the beginning of May. Things are getting better now though I still have a huge amount on my plate. I am also dealing with a nasty neck/shoulder injury that is impeding my training progress. Guess I will have more time to spend on my lower body, eh?!
I plan on resuming with regular development and expansion of the site so by the end of the summer we will hopefully have more features and services to offer everyone. We are also busy developing a new Dojo Management System that we are hoping to debut towards the end of this year, though there are a lot of variables in that estimate! As always thank you for your support and suggestions, please keep them coming!!

WANTED: Spam Ninja

Sensei Posted in Site_News,

That’s right we here at KarateTraining.org are looking for a freelance Ninja that seciaizes in tracking down spammers and well let’s say neutralizing them… Until we can find such a crack team of Ninja’s we are forced to temporarily disabled the forum. We need to find a new way to thwart the Spambots from dumping their trash upon our site. This lowest life form has been increasingly annoying and was beginning to consume to much of our time. Fear not, we are researching several ways to bring the forum back and make it spambot free. It seems there is a large market for these spammers to dump their filth and trash all over the Internet, but not here. So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please post them here…also, if you do happen to have any connections with a crack squad of Ninja’s could you ask them to take some of these spammers out for us?!?! Thanks!

I’d like to apologize to all my readers. This week has been crazy and I am behind in everything! I promise to have a bunch of great posts starting next week. For now I am back to the pile! What have I been doing? Well last week I was sick, bad stomach bug. Then I gutted my office, I’m on a temporary desk right now and I don’t know where anything is, not fun. The carpet is being install on Saturday so next week I can move back in. I have also been neck deep in an exciting project. Failing to find any software to help me and my students manage and track our activities I have begun to write my own application. It is very rough right now and I expect it to take a month or so to complete but when it is done!! Of course tax season is upon us here in the USA so I am gathering all the necessary information for that process…I’d rather be sparring!
So until next week, keep training!

Bloggers Wanted

Sensei Posted in Site_News,

KarateTraining.org is looking to expand the world of Martial Arts blogging. We envision an author-driven site that is more than an online component to our exisiting services, but an entity unto itself. KarateTraining.org is looking for a stable of talented, engaged writers who are willing to commit to one post a week, on a set day. As an KarateTraining.org blogger, you would represent the interests of all martial artists while having the opportunity to develop your own voice and audience. Your content would have to be written specifically for the blog, no reprinting from other sources or heavy reliance on quotes from other’s work. We are looking for fresh, relevant, timely commentary and news about topics related to the Martial Arts, from the people who live and train on a regular basis.
In the world of blogging, it is update or perish. As such, we’re asking for writers who will definitively commit to one post a week, of a standard length of 250-500 words. Writers who cannot meet this requirement can still write for the blog as guests, but to be part of the collective the weekly requirement will be strictly adhered to. Succinctness and an engaging, accessible writing style are important. Good posts offer up information and opinions in an informal tone, without being pedantic or overly academic. Because blog posts will not be vetted by an editorial board before going up on the site, it is important that the writer have a strong sense of responsibility for his/her work. We are interested in your connection and involvement to Martial Arts communities, not in personal attacks or rhetoric. Be prepared to defend your work and it’s accuracy, there will be no fact-checkers other than yourself.
If you are interested in contributing to the KarateTraining.org blog project, please contact us Sensei_AT_KarateTraining.org ASAP. Please submit a sample of writing to us of the typical blog length, 250-500 words, so we can get a sense of your writing style. Individual Blog space is available for those wishing to post daily.
Thanks! KarateTraining.org staff
