Well I have a few articles in the works but life keeps getting in the way! If anyone is interested in guest blogging on this site that is always welcome. We have three guest bloggers who post every month of so now but the more involvement we get, the more perspectives we gain and the more intersting this site will be. So if you are one of the regular readers (and there are quiet a few of you πŸ™‚ ) feel free to drop me a note or a comment so you can guest write also!

And here we are…

So yet another month has passed us by! This has been an incredibly busy month personally with work, projects and finals! Despite that a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes here. The Forum has really taken off with several new moderators signing up and over 300 posts just last month. Traffic is still relatively slow but very promising! Please stop in and post something to let us know you are interested in our work here! πŸ™‚ We’ve also introduced a Chat feature to the forum so people that want a more real time experience can have one. A dedicated Chat room is being added to the site menu and is in final testing so look for that soon. A few more pictures have been added to the Gallery this month, take a look!
The biggest news this month is the behind the scene work. The site is going through a complete redesign to make it truely cross-browser compatible. A visitor emailed us to tell us their browser (Opera) did not display the site correctly. When we checked it out it was embarassing! So we’ve returned to the drawing/design board and will be releasing new site code in June that should improve everyone’s browsing experience. As the summer progresses and we pull the rest of the site together we will at long last begin the contests we have been promising. With everything going on that has become a back burner issue…sorry. Also this Fall we should begin the design of our clothing line! We already have two models lined up so we’ve really put the cart before the horse on this one. πŸ˜‰
As always thank you for your patronage and keep sending us your ideas and comments (sensei AT karatetraining.org). Train hard and keep your gaurd up…OSU!!

So, What’s going on?!

I am writing this for those of you following the development of KarateTraining.org. The past 4 months have seen a slow down in the development of this site because I was taking a Graduate class in Computer Science. Despite the break in new development there has been significant activity on the web site. The Forum is now fully functional and we have several moderators working the different sections to insure quality and family-oriented posts. Already there is some great information available and actively being discussed. The store continues to offer very low pricing (I like to say near-wholesale) with excellent customer service. 10% of all profits from the store benefit the Outstanding Academic Achievement Scholarship we support. There have been new additions to the Gallery and this blog is filled with news, training tips, meditation points, and fun stuff daily! The sites traffic is continuously increasing which helps to keep me motivated and developing. I also continue to receive many kind emails and comments with praise and encouragement for my work on this site, thank you for everyone that has taken the time to write me.
I have setup a MySpace page for this site, so if you have a MySpace account please send me a friend invite! Now that the semester is done I plan on getting many more services up and running for you! The list of things that I hope to have done this summer includes:

  • Redesign the Splash page.
  • Bring Article and Your Stories online.
  • Revamp and expand the Games Section
  • Bring Chat live!
  • Bring KT Contests online…
  • Setup separate Book Store & Clothing Store
  • Setup Dojo Directory Service
  • Begin regular newsletter releases
  • Setup the Customer Service section
  • Setup an Events Calendar
  • Make FREE KarateTraining.org email accounts available
  • Setup Gallery submit feature
  • and to help me pay my expenses…Find advertisers!!

So let me get to work and we’ll see how much of the list I can get done before the Fall semester starts. πŸ˜‰ If I am forgetting anything please let me know Sensei AT KarateTraining.org

The KarateTraining.org forum is now fully operational! We have signed up 5 moderators this week and have a few more requests we are handling. The quality of the posts is very promising as are the number of visits the forum is getting. We have created a few new private forums that allow schools, clubs and groups to carry on discussions in private without having the headaches of managing the software. Just another FREE KarateTraining.org service!
Look for more improvements coming real soon as we begin to bring all the pieces together and officially launch our web site this summer!
